Out Picking Wild Flowers

Back in the USA and back in my parents' house temporarily. I am in relaxation mode until I move to Seattle. The last time I was home was nine months ago when I came back for Christmas, and that was the longest I have ever been away from home. It feels so familiar, but at the same time I feel almost removed from the place I spent my pre-teen and teenage years in. It is nice being able to drive again, and I am happy to report I remembered how to drive a manual without any problems. My starts are a little messy, but it will come back to me.

I have spent most of my days sorting through my room. I have a touch of the hoarder in me, and I have gotten rid of very few things in the last 15 years. This needs to change as I prepare to move out of the house officially, so I have been cleaning out my room of all the things I have held on to for so long. I don't think I have gotten rid of a pair of shoes in ten years!

When I moved back, I had a list of food items I could not wait to get my hands on. Within two days of being home I crossed off one of them, getting cake from my favorite bakery. Last night we had NY pizza for dinner, which was another thing I had missed in England! Dealing with US money again does throw me off a little, but I will get used to it again in time.

Being back in the country has been wonderful to be honest. I am not a city person. Or a suburb person. I was born and raised in the mountains, and being back in them is so freeing. I do get a little nervous running though. My area does have bears and coyotes and bobcats....but so far I have only encountered a few turkey.
Today I went out to pick wild flowers. Something I would have not been able to do at my home in England. Of course there are places in England where this is possible, but I certainly did not live in those places.
I had forgotten what truly warm air feels like. When the sun and the air and even the breeze are hot. It has been glorious. But it is a fall heat. You can feel the change of season in the air.
And also hear the bees buzzing. I ended up not pick that many flowers, because I felt guilty stealing from the bees. It is so nice being able to just be outside and walk around without fear of random rain.

Other than that, not much to report. I also have been spending a lot of time with my cat, who my parents do not properly pay attention to when I am away. A glamour shot of my baby seems as good a way as any to end this. Look how sweet he is. Anyways, goodbye for now!
